One of my favorite Star Trek fanzines is Starship Design: Interstellar Forum for Naval Power. Written by Todd Guenther, it was first published by Devon-Aurora Publications Center in 1984. I think my copy is a reprint from 1987. I don’t have any information on Devon-Aurora but that isn’t surprising. A lot of fanzine creators also created their own publishing houses to produce their fanzines. Todd Allen Guenther is also known for Ships of the Star Fleet: 1 and Ships of the Star Fleet: Akyazi-Class Perimeter Action Ships (both published in 1998 by Mastercom Data Center), and Ships of the Star Fleet: Cruisers & Frigates (published in 1999 also by Mastercom). I don’t have these (yet!) but would like to add them to my collection.

Starship Design’s conceit is much like the of the original Star Fleet Technical Manual from the 1970s. It is a real technical journal from the 2280s devoted to issues about the design of starships. As far as I know it was a one-off but I would like to have seen a series of issues.
